Transfer by van to Bahuichivo (30 mins). The highest point of the Copper Canyon. During your stay we recommend visiting the Municipal Palace, the Plaza de Armas and the El Fuerte Museum.

El Fuerte was designated a Pueblo Mágico of Mexico in 2009, and it's easy to see why. Founded in 1563 by Spanish conquistadors, El Fuerte owes its name to the fortress built in response to ongoing conflicts with the native peoples of the region. That same fortress also gave its name to the river that flows nearby: the Río Fuerte. Today, this history can be felt throughout the town, offering visitors a journey back in time.
Among its main tourist attractions are the Municipal Palace, the Plaza de Armas, and the El Fuerte Museum, where you can learn more about the town's history, legends, and iconic figures. Its well-preserved colonial architecture, cobblestone streets, and warm hospitality invite you to explore at your own pace.

Night at the Hotel Posada del Hidalgo at El Fuerte, a beautiful colonial style hacienda. The Hacienda was once house of famous people like Venustiano Carranza and Diego de la Vega, better known as "El Zorro". It was also the mansion of the wealthiest man in El Fuerte, Don Rafael Almada. Today the hotel offers a unique experience with its garden and colonial-style courtyards.
